Early Autumn Camping Trip

The Autumn Equinox marks the transition from summer into winter, usually in late September when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. To mark the occasion, we went camping at Kennedy Meadows along the Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River.

We turned off Highway 108 onto a dirt road, and half way to Kennedy Meadows we stopped at Eureka Campground, a campsite that had about ten sites, metal barbecues, picnic tables, and campfires.

Our tent perched on the edge of the creek

View from our tent (1o points if you can spot the deer hunter...)

It was so cold at night, Sean’s hat was frozen to the table in the morning!

Food tastes better cooked out-of-doors

At the end of the day wecut thin, green branches off the tall trees and used them to roast marshmallows. Staring at the campfire, we ate our yummy smores, and talked with no interruptions--no computers, or blackberries, or tv--just us and that starry sky.

Happy Fall!

When is our next adventure?
