Spring and Hiking

Lupines--A Sign of So Cal Spring

Hey! I know, I've been long missing. Lots of inquiry projects to grade, getting a new someone ready to take my place and lots of travel north and south to be with my darling husband. I try not to work when we are together, which means I need to get most of my school work done during the week. What teacher does that????

But, spring break has arrived, giving me a breath of fresh air and a bit of time to catch up. Sean and I spent Easter and the first part of the week together, but he had to report for drill on Wednesday morning. There went our plans to spend the day in Sacramento together with James! I'm still wondering who gave the army a copy of my school schedule and then planned to keep us apart as much as possible, grumble, grumble..... So, I picked up James at the airport in Sacramento, and we went to the train museum, visited the Scoop where Sean asked me to marry him, and took a tour of Sutter's Fort. Yes, there were cannons. With a day filled with trains and cannons, the boy was quite happy. Sean would have loved it, too.

Unfortunately, I forgot my camera! But, I do have some lovely pictures of a hike we took recently with James' Boy Scout troop to the top of Gilman Peak--I never thought we'd find the top--just endless up, up up!

A beautiful morning for hiking

The boys were making up stories about how this happened---in the middle of nowhere!
Can you see Catalina Island?

The group--we made it to the top!

  • Wow! Beautiful pics...I love the Boy Scouts...so nice to see pictures of that wholesome group! My brothers were in the scouts and my husband was actually an Eagle Scout...can't wait until our future kids get into that stuff!
